James, who is based in London England, has over 40 years of legal and business experience in the downstream energy trading and maritime sectors. This experience includes trading contracts, charterparty, refining, terminal and ship management agreements along with dispute resolution in commodity trading, bunkers and related maritime issues. He has held senior legal positions with The Coastal Corporation and BP PLC and Valero Energy Company and acted as General Counsel for Mercuria Energy Trading Inc, Chemoil Energy Ltd, Thome Ship Management Pte and Fuel and Marine Marketing LLP where he was also Vice President of the European Fuel Oil Division. James has lived and worked in London, Houston, Chicago and Singapore.

James has a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and a Juris Doctorate from Texas Tech University in Lubbock Texas and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Houston in Houston Texas. He is also an active international maritime and commercial arbitrator and mediator.
